Heat Strikers Competitive Soccer (Travel)

All participants (new and returning) MUST first pre-register on this site before coming to tryout.

All candidates MUST come with cleats, shin guards, a water bottle, and a soccer ball.

About Us

The PPO Heat Strikers program is our competitive soccer program.  Teams practice primarily at Paul Maxwell park, as well as on the South side of the Pines Recreation Center.  The Heat Strikers Program is year round.  Teams play in various leagues including the South Florida United Soccer League, the Florida State Premier League, EDP, and GHSL upper division.   Most teams will attend tournaments throughout the year.  All head coaches hold a coaching license. The program is tryout based.  Boys and girls teams are formed from U7 all the way through U19.  PPO looks to develop players.  We are interested in both experienced soccer players, as well as those with a burning passion to learn and improve at the game.  Our initial fees are among the lowest of all travel programs in South Florida, as one of our goals as an Optimist Club is to make the highest levels of this youth sport within reach to all in our community.  To view our competitive staff directory click HERE (partial list, will be updated soon).

Financial Obligations

The registration fee (paid once per season/year)
to join a  Heat Strikers team is:

Base registration fee:

  • U7 through U9 TEAMS  $415
  • U10 and older TEAMS    $490

Out of City Fee (Charged to players who live outside of Pembroke Pines):  $95*

A small additional processing fee will charged by the website for processing (approximately  $10-21 depending of your final total).

All players are required to have a full set of Heat Strikers uniforms, plus practice shirts.  Our registration fee includes us supplying your uniform.  Returning players may choose to re-use uniform kits from the prior season. Uniforms must be in good condition, as determined by PPO. If you are a returning player and wish to re-use your uniforms and practice shirts, a credit will be given.  For details please reach out to your coach who can provide more details as well as a discount code to use if you are going to re-use your old uniforms.

The registration fee includes all basic costs associated with participation in one regular season of league participation,  a uniform kit, and FYSA carding and insurance.

The fee does not include tournaments, travel expenses, specialized equipment, or outside training.  

The Heat Strikers uniforms are custom printed (sublimated), and really stand out compared to other local teams.   Each kit contains a home and away jersey, shorts, socks, and 2 practice shirts.

*Non Pembroke Pines Residents will be charged an out of city fee of $95, which is imposed by the City.  Proof of residency (uploaded at time of registration) must be an electric bill, water bill, mortgage statement, or lease agreement. NO OTHER FORMS OF IDENTIFICATION WILL BE ACCEPTED.

**Late registrations may require uniforms be purchased online directly from our uniform vendor (Squadra), if we no longer have any uniforms available to provide.   Orders placed with Squadra will cost approximately $160 plus shipping.    If PPO is able to provide a late registrant a uniform, the player number will be randomly assigned by PPO.

Additonal Training/ Tournaments

Our coaches have volunteered to practice with your team at least 2x per week, as well as be at the fall or spring league games as required (each team will select one FYSA sanctioned league season, which is included in the registration fee).   You are not required to pay any training fees to be on a PPO team. 

Many PPO coaches do offer PPO soccer teams and players additional FYSA sanctioned competition and training opportunities most often held outside of our park.    Understand these activities are fully OPTIONAL, and you need not attend them.   Any fees (or expense reimbursements) coaches charge you for is not a charge from PPO.  If you choose to not participate in these activities you are not required to pay for them, and your child’s participation in twice weekly practice and soccer league play will not be effected in any way.

Most teams will attend off site tournaments through the coming year.  The team's costs for tournaments vary by age group, and some teams will chose to do more or less than others.  The cost of tournaments is not included in the registration fee paid to PPO.  More information on approximate tournament costs will be provided during the tryout / selection process.  Teams will also coordinate fund raising activities to help offset some of these expenses.

  • Children are not allowed to come if showing ANY symptoms of illness. Please do not come if the participant or anyone in the immediate household is sick. You will be sent home immediately. Parents also need to check temperatures before coming.  

ONLY children who are registered online to tryout, or who have signed up to play this season, will be allowed onto the fields.

Registration and Payment For Selected Players

This link is only to be used by players that have been notified by a coach that they have been selected for a Heat Strikers competitive travel team and given permission to register and begin the payment process.

This season, all registrations and payments will be collected online and using a credit card or checking account. PPO no longer accepts paper registration forms, cash, checks, or in person credit card payments for any transactions.  If you are listing a Pembroke Pines address, your team manager will be collecting a copy of your water bill as proof.   A $95 fee will be charged if you are unable to produce documentation of your Pembroke Pines address.

The online registration site will give you the opportunity to split your payments into two installments, as long as you are registering prior to June 10th.

If you live in the City of Pembroke Pines, and to get the in-city rate, you will need to upload proof of Pembroke Pines residency at the time of registration.  Proof can be a driver's license, PEMBROKE PINES utility bill, a lease, or a mortgage statement.
